One's own true being is also the true being of Y'shua, One then see's
and gains mastery over everything since this being is the hidden
residing in everything, and is manifested when we have made eyes to see it.
It is the finding of that which is spoken of in the initial sayings of
the GofThomas that opens one to these secrets and reveals the truth of
what it means to be a Son of the Father with the same being.
The work begins with the admonition not to quit searching until this
being is found. All of Y'shua's words point to the discovery of this,
and the events that fall out around such a one shows the power of this
reality even in this world.
Find the living one here while alive in body, he says, otherwise one
might not be able to find it in the life hereafter. Jerry B

This saying reminds me of the opening lines of "Checkmate," the poem by Jelal
al-Din Rumi, the 13th century Sufi poet and mystic:
"Borrow the beloved's eyes. Look through them and you'll see the beloved's face
everywhere."
(Translated by Coleman Barks.)
To drink from the mouth of Jesus is essentially the same as to think with his
mind and to see with his eyes. It is not merely to listen passively to what he
says. It is to align totally with his vision. Because Jesus is represented
here as someone spiritually enlightened, drinking from his mouth is indeed
equivalent to seeing through the eyes of God and consequently seeing the face of
God in everything.
Again in this saying is the theme of making the two one. He who will drink from
the mouth of Jesus will become like him. Jesus then will become him, not like
him, but him. By implication, Jesus will no longer be Jesus, but one not
limited to Jesus. He who joins with Jesus, likewise, must abandon his own
personal identity, so that neither he nor Jesus exists as a separate self. Such
spiritual joining is not like physical joining in which elements of each
continue to exist. In spiritual joining, nothing of the former self remains.
And, if only for a brief moment, the Christ Self becomes conscious. This Self
is the true Self, the created Son of God, the wholeness of creation. These same
ideas can be seen in GTh 19a and b:
"Jesus said, `Blessed is he who comes into being before he comes into being. If
you become my disciples and listen to my words, these stones will minister to
you."
To come into being before coming into being is to find the Self, the pristine
oneness of creation, which existed before time and which will never die. From
this Self, man dreamed a dream of becoming something else, a separate self in a
separate world. But with the help of Jesus, he can return to his true being, to
his true home. To become his disciple and to surrender to his vision is to
drink from his mouth and to fully realize the oneness to which we all belong.
In that state of awareness, man rules over the all (GTh 2), and even the stones
of the world, being shadows of nothingness, will conform to his will. And
likewise, "all the things that are hidden," that is, the entirety of God's love,
"will be revealed to him." Only when the two become one, can this revelation be
experienced, because oneness is a condition of the Kingdom.
Thank you.
