Slow loading of files

Hi kevin
Gnome-Mplayer loads files very slowly.
It happens both when i tried it from context menu and from terminal.
But if i select some file from 'Open recent' list it loads fast.

I tried runnig from termial with -v option.
I am attaching the screen shot here.

While loading the video , the sytem is un responsive.
I can move the mouse, but nothing changes on screen.
I can also cahge to terminal by pressing cntrl+alt+3 etc
The unresponsiveness occurs at the point that i have marked in hte screen shot

Iam using Arch linux
ATI radeon card
use mplayer-vaapi ( it happens when i choose xv in gnome-mplayer also).

there is another set of problems too , but i think its related to vaapi so will post in another thread
