Use Snagit to capture and create quick videos, marked-up screenshots, and GIFs. Then get a shareable link for that media with just one click. Paste the link into Slack where your team can preview the media right in the channel or direct message. Then click through to Screencast to connect and collaborate with your ideas by adding comments and simple markup right on top of your media.
Note: If you do not see a preview of the content in the Slack message, the Snagit app may not be installed and approved in your Slack workspace. To learn how, see Install the Snagit App in Your Workspace.
Has anyone deployed Snagit 2019 with the license key? Ive tried using composer and installing snagit, activating it then creating the package but so far I havent had any luck doing it that way.
Any Suggestions?
I use Snagit myself but haven't had a need to deploy it, however, I believe activation requires online connectivity to communicate with TechSmith's activation servers. If that's the case, then there's probably not a file you can deploy to other systems after activation. It would likely be tied to the hardware of the device and not be transferrable.
From my experience (but i have not done 2019 yet), Snag It is just looking for the Activation Key in a specific file path and then send to their servers (does require online connectivity). I just add the PKG from their website and just deploy the key as a separate PKG or DMG in my policy to the necessary location (see screen shot).
@TJ.Edgerly So I used composer and created a pkg for the snagit application and a separate pkg for the users/shared/techsmith/snagit with the Snagitregistrationkey file in it. I create a policy in Jamf pro containing the both pkgs then I install it on my test machine from Self Service and when I open Snagit it still asks for the license key or start trial. So I tried to just run the registrationkey file but didnt have permissions it said. So I went back and made the pkg for the registrationkey and edited the permissions for that and changed the owner. Now it works properly. Thanks for the help!
Can someone please help me with the autopkg and applying the snagit key. I am very new to this, and don't know much about anything. I can create the package with autopkg fine, but i am not sure how to apply the reg key as per:
*To use SNAGIT_KEY, create an override and add the key value. The needed key value can be pulled from a machine that has already been registered with the following:
I have Snagit 2020 deployed to my end users devices, they are not admins. Build one Package in Composer with the Snagit installer and your license key, Build a second Package for ACE. You can download the installer here, -Record-System-Audio-Installer.app.zip, and use composer to Snapshot the install. Then bundle that with your policy to install your Snagit app with a higher priority so it installs before Snagit. Create a PPPC for Snagit and Snagit Helper. Force a restart after success of the entire policy and you are good to go. Enjoy.

Snagit is one screen-capture solution in use at Illinois State University. The below directions have been tested using the latest version of Snagit with Windows 11 Enterprise. If you are using a different version of either Snagit or Windows, you may need to contact Snagit (TechSmith) support for assistance.
SnagIt does need to be opened before pressing Print Screen to use it, and you may need to restart SnagIt after applying these settings for it to take effect. If you would like Snagit to run on startup follow the steps below:
Once you have your screenshot in memory, you have to open it in some kind of image editing program to do anything with it. So you might open the built in Windows image editor (which is not easy to use in my opinion) or maybe something more powerful like Photoshop Elements (that you can get for $65 on Amazon.com). You create a new document and paste your image into it by hitting CTRL+V or using the menu and choosing Edit Paste.
Microsoft PowerPoint presents information visually - in the form of text, images, clipart, charts, diagrams, maps, video, animation and any othermedia that can be incorporated within a presentation. Our topic of discussion in this article is screenshots - there is probablyno dispute about the fact that screenshots of any kind can enrich presentations of all kinds. Normally, incorporating a screenshot in a presentationinvolves capturing the entire screen area to the clipboard and then editing it in an image editing application. Another alternative is to use adedicated screen capture program.
We'll now discuss a third alternative - a program that works from within PowerPoint. Imagine being able to click an icon in PowerPoint itself thatcaptures screens, windows and regions - finally inserting all captured content in new slides within the active presentation! The product we arereviewing here is SnagIt from TechSmith - particularly the new PowerPoint specific features introduced in version 6.2 of SnagIt.
SnagIt is from TechSmith, a company that operates from Okemos, Michigan, USA. SnagIt, a screen capture tool with built-inediting and cataloging capabilities was TechSmith's first independent product. More than a decade later, SnagIt has over 5 million users -probably because each version has added new innovative capabilities that have kept the product a step ahead of the competition.
TechSmith also makes Camtasia Studio, another popular product that allows users to create videos from any activity or sourcethat is viewable on their Windows desktop, adding special effects and voice annotation.
Installation is a quick affair that leads you step-by-step through various screens. One of these screens provides you with optionsto initialize the SnagIt add-ins for PowerPoint, Word and Internet Explorer (see screenshot below).
The SnagIt toolbar (see screenshot below) withinPowerPoint comprises two icons and a drop down list. The icon on theleft actually processes the command to do a screen capture - the secondicon opens a dialog box where you can set options for a SnagIt capture. The drop down list on the right lets you choose the area you want captured.
Since this site is all about PowerPoint, I've been discussing the new PowerPoint friendly abilities of SnagIt. However, to not mention theprogram's other abilities would be unfair since there's so much more that SnagIt can do.
It can capture images, video and also text - for instance you can export a directory listing to an editable text file. SnagIt can also capture allimages within a web page or site - and you can do that for pages linked to the originating page down to as many levels deep you require.
There's much more to SnagIt than what I can discuss here. I'll definitely want everyone to try out the product - you don'tlose anything and you have 30 days to decide if you really need to buy the product.
I wish there was a way I can export an entire catalog of captured images to a PowerPoint presentation - maybe in some otherversion? But that's just a wish - my conclusion is that no other product comes even close to what SnagIt performs in concert with PowerPoint. And that's no ordinary accomplishment.
Here are 10 jigsaw graphics containing different shapes. These graphics are available in both black and white and are contained within separate sample presentations that you download. Additionally, these jigsaw graphics are vector shapes, so you can easily edit them within your Microsoft Office program by changing fills, lines, and effects or even applying Shape Styles.
Screen capture is a fundamental part of Windows dating back to the earliest days of the operating system. You can capture everything on your screen simply by pressing the PrtSc key, or single out the window you are currently viewing by using the Alt+PrtSc key combination. Both of these keyboard actions grab a bitmap image of the screen and make it available to the clipboard. You can then paste your screen capture into a Word document, Evernote Note, or open Paint and create an editable graphics file by pasting the contents of your clipboard. You can repurpose that image data in just about anything that accepts bitmap input.
I leave it to you to decide why you might want to pay for screen capture software, but here are a handful of use cases where I find screen capture and SnagIt specifically better than relying on the core Windows screen capture functions.
Annotating screen captures is probably the top reason I like using SnagIt. While I can add text, arrows, and other graphics to a screen capture in Paint, I can make those notations far faster in SnagIt. Adding a word balloon or an arrow takes seconds with SnagIt, with each element being individually editable before I save out a marked up file to either upload or email. The time I save annotating screenshots in a single day is worth the cost of SnagIt.
Capturing very specific segments of the screen is more complicated using Windows screen capture functions. If I only want a section of the screen that contains a very specific menu in an application, Windows requires me to edit out all the parts I don't want in photo editing software. SnagIt allows me to quickly identify the exact portion of the screen I want to capture and grab an image. I can capture triangular and polygon shapes on the screen, which means I can quickly perform more artistic captures without needing to edit anything. Here again, I save a bunch of time.
