Radhekrishna: Below is information for GSS Nama Mahima Bhajan Competition during the 2016 Namasankeerthanam Mela to be held at SSVT Sat Sep 3 & Sun Sep 4.

These are the top 13 devotees of Lord Maha Vishnu who have attained mukti and salvation through devotion. We can still add more from Lord Hanuman, to Kabir, Meera, Tulasidas, Ramdas, Sadasiva Brahmendral, Gopalakrishna Bharati who have reached the lotus feet of the Lord purely through their devotion.

Rasanam Lakshanam Bhajanam - meaning - the act by which we feel more closer to our inner self or God, is through Bhajans

Several saints have sung many hymns and keerthans emphasizing that the only way to attain salvation in this Kali Yuga is through Hari Namasankeerthanam or through Bhakti. Great importance is attributed to the singing of Bhajans & Krithis with Bhakti / Devotion. Like how we have the Trinities (Thyagaraja, Shyama Sastri and Muthuswamy Dhikshithar) who enriched Carnatic music, Bhajan Sampradaya was also formulated and coded by the Trinities - Marudhanallur Sathguru Swamigal, Bhodendhra Swamigal, and Sridhar Ayyaval. They traveled across India and collected various songs sung by various Saints & Poets and formulated Dhakshina Sampradaya Bhajan Paddadhi.

Gnanananda Seva Samajam (GSS-USA), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, has been organizing Second Sunday Bhajans with few families since 2008. Five years ago, GSS initiated the Namasankeerthana Mela, a series of Bhajans during the month of December in various states across USA and Canada, as well as various Namasankeerthanam events throughout the year. To promote Namasankeerthanam to the younger generation, during the 2015 Namasankeerthanam Mela, GSS introduced 'GSS Nama Mahima', a Bhajan Competition where over 60 youngsters participated. We are happy to see young kids singing amazingly thereby rooting out their Bhakti through various Bhajan Keerthans & Namavalis. GSS primarily thanks our illustrious teachers who have been teaching Bhajans & Ashtapathis with utmost dedication to interested Children & Adults via conference call every Wednesday and Sunday. We are really blessed to have such devoted teachers encouraging the next generation and also adults who are interested in learning the Sampradaya Bhajans.

We encourage youngsters to participate in the Bhajan Competition and to receive the blessings of All Gurus & Gods! Children who can sing Bhajans, Carnatic Music Students as well as Instrumentalists are also encouraged to participate and sing.
