Gnananandam - Teleserial????

Its been quite sometime that the serial GNANANANDAM has been aired on DD...I do not find anything interesting in the serial except the TITLE of the serial and the last few minutes where I get to see some very good collections of Guruji...Can any body please explain the purpose of such a serial..Is this serial going to spread the ideologies of Swami,  the life history of Swami or is it going to be just another soap with all Saas Bahu, Boss subordinate, Lovers tragedy & bliss...I am totally disappointed with the serial.

Just to remind GNANANANDAM is one eternal nectar WHOSE TASTE CAN ONLY BE EXPERIENCED AND NEVER CAN BE EXPRESSED.

I send this mail as an effect of disappointment rather than offending anyone associated with the serial.

It is very much disappointed to see such a blunt mail from u without understanding the real motivation behind few devotees like Mr. Chandra mouli, Ganesh / others taking along the serial in a little commercial way initially now which is going to take a big turn in terms of bhakthi at the later part of serials which is always the case with any mega serials.

It is very easy to comment: but it's very difficult to execute. When the great Mahans like Raghavendra swami / Shiridi baba serials were televised in the past, people from our Samajam were wondering who will take the torch of Gurunathar/Guruji.? Its shri. Chandru / team.

Rather than pouring apprehensions on the serial, let us stand shoulder to shoulder with Gnananandam team and provide them a route map with our aspirations / anubhavams in a more positive manner to produce it more divinely.

It's just a simple suggestion. Let us take a collective decision in consultation with Swami Niranjanaji / Shri. Krishnaswami mama / Kalyanam mama who had very closely association with Guruji/Swami also the trustees GA Trust.

Pls pardon me if I hurt anybody's sentiments or cross my limits.

I appreciate your interest in making this seriel “Gnananandam” and
it's a great initiative and hats off to you and your team and we also
understand that it's difficult to execute, but if you want to make
this a grand success, you definitely need to take the honest and open
feedback from the devotees and not to shoot down their views and
opinions.

We (Guruji's poorvasama family members) felt that the commercial part
has taken precedence over the actual anubhavms . We have been
associated with Swami and Guruji for long years so do others and we
strongly feel that the subject need to be more refined and it should
talk more about Swami and Guruji ,their life history and the info need
to be precise and prefect in all respects and not stories like this
depiciting some character as Guruji which is unacceptable (sorry for
being blunt here).

When other serials like adhishankarar or Ragavendrar has not gone down
this path, why should this be?

I would be happy if you could take anubhavams of disciples of swami
and Guruji and depict it exactly as it is, it would definitely reach
the target audience in a more easier way.

With the help of our samajam, you should reach out to our devotees
abroad also so that you would get lot more anhbhavams of swami and
Guruji and Namaji.

Ofcourse it is a great initiative and with all due respect to the team and its sponsors it has been a great effort. Please do not treat my mail as a complaint. It is a frustration from someone within the family.

Also one more disappointing factor in the serial. For all those people who have been associated with mandali &  samajam know that it was Guruji's dream to create a self sustained village in Thennangur. After Guruji's miraculous Leela in Koteeswar in 1994 it was a herculean task for anyone to fulfill that dream. With all His devotion to OUR GURUJI, NAMAJI has fulfilled the dream which is evident right in front of our eyes in Thennangur. 

Considering this fact I've been watching this serial and till date there has never been even a photograph of NAMAJI shown nor has His name been mentioned anywhere in the serial. We have discussed this with some of the office bearers of the serial time and again but there has never been a convincing answer.This is really heartbreaking.

 For all those who know the fact that Namaji has also built a very strong base in mandali in Chennai.So it is a humble request to all members that we all come together in this regard and kindly take the onus of making this serial a success by ably contributing their views.

All these factors prompted me to send such a mail.

This is frustrating and the way the serial heading towards is very bad. Also you cannot try depicting guruji,swami as only the experiences can be. I sincerely respect your views. My whole respect to you / your family's for the great association with Gurunathar / Guruji. Feelings expressed by you/Ram are understandable.

Meanwhile pls refrain accusing anyone / rather than giving good suggestions to improve the quality of the serial and support whatever extend possible financially to carry out Guruji's mission globally.

I just happened to talk to Shri. Kalyanam mama to form a committee involving elders / devotees associated with Swami/ Guruji for a long time and advice G-Team which he agreed to take up with the team. I am sure Swami Naamaji has dedicated His heart / soul to His Guru-our respected Guruji throut His life. Hope Naamaji's role will certainly be introduced suitably soon.

Hence let us not show our anger / emotions to our Gnananandam family member like Shri. Chandramouli who is an understanding person. Let us all potentially contribute morally / financially to make the effort meaningful.

it is really correct to bring this issue out at this point of time. This is the right time to speak about this.   it is really a tough job to take a serial  and hats off to the team first of all to successfully run episodes even thought they face many difficulties.This shows our Swami's Grace and i personally wish the serial to become a  grand success and it will definitely happen with Swami asirvadam with no doubt.But, As Ram anna and hari anna said they could have shown Namaji at least once. This would have affected a lot of devotees to be frank since many have lived with Namaji and his memories. But my suggestion is we need to give them some positive suggestions  and make the serial go in the right path without demotivating them or trying to accuse anyone. After watching some few episodes i felt the story is somewhat good but the dialogues need to be more refined. my suggestion is that it would be better if some of our devotees itself  could be approached by their crew members for acting in the serial. It would be  good if swami  gurujis and namajis life history had been shown intially in a brief manner so that devotees gets easily attracted and then the public.I sincerely want the serial to be a successful one and it is in our devotees hands to come together in this regard  making this serial a success by ably contributing the views and the needs.   Let us all potentially contribute morally / financially to make the effort meaningful. Kindly pardon me if anything is wrong .

Your balanced views are really appreciated. Let us take this as a call from Swami/Guruji/Naamaji to reconcile ourselves.

Certainly GA trust shall take a lead forming a committee and express our views / directions to the team and I" sure there will be a good quality change in the upcoming episodes.

We never commented on the initiative nor the people involved in this
initiative of making this serial. It’s a marathon effort and we all
know about it, we appreciate and we are ready to support them as and
when required.

Reasons for my frustration are as follows

Information provided in this serial is incorrect. Guruji was born in
thennangur and not in tiruvannamalai. We do have guruji's porvasarama
family members who can provide more information if they are being
approached.

2. Missing out Namaji is a big mistake and it is unacceptable. He has
been there from the Beginning of Gnananandha Nama Sankirthana Mandali
and GA Trust.When Sri Nott Annaji Rao started "Gnananandha Nama
Sankirthana Mandali " Our Guruji, Namaji, Thukkaram and Smt Kalyani
Margabandhu (My mother) were there during that time along with Sri
Annaji Rao. Right from that day till the day he reached our Swami’s &
Gurji’s Thiruvadi , Namaji was a close front of Guruji right from
young age and then became his disciple and then a true Sishyar. So
missing him or not showing him in this serial of Gnanandam is not
acceptable.

3 They should also narrate the true life history of Swami and Guruji
and showing some character as guruji is not correct as Our Guruji is
a “Naisthika Bramachari” and “Angenaya Avatharam” and showing someone
as Guruji is not acceptable. We enact we can accept but we cannot
superimpose a Mahan on someone which is not acceptable.

4. The Serial should Talk about Guruji’s Porvsarama Pitha (Father)
Bagavatha Rathnakaram Sri Nott Annaji Rao and His Mother Smt. Lakshmi.
Nott Annaji Rao was Guruji’s and Namaji’s Bajan Guru and he is the one
who showed Swami to Guruji. When we talk about Adhishankarar we
remember his parents Sri Sivaguru and Smt. Aryambal. When we talk
about our Swami we talk about his parents Vengopa Ganapatigal and
Chakkubai in (dakshani moorthi Samarambam) and when it comes to
Guruji and Namaji we ignore their parents , which is not acceptable

Naamaji's Father name is Sri shankara Iyer and His Mother Smt
chellammal. If you have been to kapali temple 30-35 years back you
would have heard a loud voice chanting " Jothirlingam -Mahalingam "
in the morning & in the evenings and it was his voice(Sri Shankara
Iyer's). When he goes around the prakarams and when he does
pradhikanams he use to chant in a great voice.


5. When Guruji's porvasarama family members are still alive why can't
they get the correct the correct information from them? What’s
stopping them from getting the right information?

Constructive criticism are always good and that’s what we are up to. I
strongly feel that this kind of criticism is always healthy and will
help others to know more about our Guruji , Namaji and Our Swami.

I feel this whole serial should have been conceptualized based on Namaji's authentic text (a gem which he graciously accepted to share with us all ) , Gnananubhavam. Not doing so has made the content very subjective , and not showcasing Sri Namaji in the serial made me and many others stop watching this serial. I hope the makers of this series and all of us , do remember the purpose of such content . It is , in my opinion, not to convince us all , the beleivers. The purpose of such endeavors should be to pass on the essence and the grace  of Gnananandam to the people who for a variety of reasons are unware of it . To that effect, this has NOT been up to the mark. I do not see anybody who does not know about our swami or guruji learning much about them just by watching this serial. I do not envision those people doing so in the future as well if the serial continues in the same fashion.Yes, being able to see Guruji every weekend in the TV is a delight and  talking about the names of our gurus is pleasant. However the purpose reaches beyond that.I am glad that WE ( all GFAM members, irrespective of their origins, closeness, relationship to Guruji) have finally spoken out .  All of us were and will continue to be equal in the eyes of our Swami and have an experience to talk about. All such experiences are equal and valuable. I hope the makers of the series take a note of the sentiments expressed and do the necessary course correction.

 

It would be also great if

(i)  GA trust releases authentic Biographies of all our Gurus (Swami, Guruji, Namaji and our current Swamiji ) , written professionally with all the relevant details,photos gathered and compiled so that it is preserved for future generations. There are people who have had experiences with Swami, Guruji and Namaji and are still alive and willing to share the experiences .We should catalog them, interview them, gather information, pictures, aneectodes and compile them. 

(ii) I have seen other major mutts releasing a photobook of all pictures of their peetadhipathis (Eg. kanchi mutt on the occasion of paramacharya's kanakabishegam and Sri Sri Jayendra Swaraswathi's peetarohana swarna jayanthi) compiled neatly. We should complie the rare photos of all events and do the same. Books are the gate keepers of history.

 

(iii) There are many audio casesstes/ resources which people preserve and are often not willing to share. I have had these experiences myself and have struggled to get some of those materials . There are lot of gems still stored and preserved in private albums/copies and are sometimes getting spoilt and are sometimes unretreviable. We should try and release them and make those publicly accessible for the benefit of mankind in general so that these do not stay as private properties. Guruji is common to all, and so are his teachings. 

 

For all of the above, effort , money and commercial viability is needed. In my opinion, Commerce is defnitely not a bad word. I am sure the honorable members of the Gfam will be more than willing to contribute in whatever way to get the above accomplished in a very short span of time.

Radhe Krishna                From the beginning of Kali Yuga, the importance of Nama Sankeerthan has been stressed by greats starting from the likes of Sukhacharya, Adi Sankara, Bhagavanama Bodhendral , Sridhara Ayyaval, Sathguru Swamigal  . As we all know its Purandharadasar who is the father of Sangeetha Shaastra. Marudhanallur Sathguru Swamigal collected all the music from all over India and collectively presented us with the Padhadi that we have today, the "Dakshina Sampradhaya Hari Nama Sankeerthanam"          Why i am saying all this is? Its is not bestowed on us to recreate ways of spreading because we wouldnt be able to.  What we need to do is, to make sure we carry on the legacy by doing what Guruji and Namaji did. A small beckon of hope still remains. Swami Haridoss Giri ( our beloved Guruji) rekindled the interest in Bhajans by not taking a serial, but was able to accomplish because of Swami Gnananandha's krupa by spreading Nama Sankeerthanam to the masses. In the Music Festivals that happen in the month of Marghazi Nama Sankeerthan was not included before, but today its a regular fixture. All this credit alone goes to our guruji.Many bhajan competitions that happen in and around Chennai, the students who participate sing songs composed by Guruji, they say Radhe krishna before starting and ending the Bhajan.
