Dear Youth Arts Providers,

Important decisions are now being made regarding the way in which The Children’s Trust prioritizes its funding for community programs.  The Children’s Trust has issued its draft Strategic Plan and is inviting public input on its proposed investment strategies.  It is critical that The Children’s Trust hear from you and the families you serve about why they should continue to support funding for arts programs.

I am urging you to:

1)     Let The Children’s Trust know what you think of the plan (to view the draft plan, go to review the draft of the Strategic Plan).

2)     Take a moment to submit your comments about the plan online at Online comments

3)     Encourage The Children’s Trust to include explicit mention of the arts as a strategy to helping “Children Succeed in School and Society.”

4)     Share personal stories and examples that show how your arts programs affect one or more of the strategies outlined under “What can we do?” on page 9 of the draft plan.

5)     Share this message with your families and constituents.

6)     Attend one of the public input sessions on:

  • Thursday, April 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Mt. Hermon AME Community Center, 17800 NW 25th Ave., Miami Gardens, FL 33056.
  • Friday, April 9 from 4-6 p.m. at South Dade Regional Library 10750 SW 211th St., Cutler Bay, FL 33189.
  • Saturday, April 10 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Miami Children's Museum, 980 MacArthur Causeway, Miami, FL 33132 (child care provided for parents attending this session).

I apologize if you receive this more than once.

Sincerely,

Michael
