Wayland Protocol Error using gmx_MMPBSA_ana

Dear,

On doing gmx_MMPBSA_ana, the GUI window does not appear, instead I see this error “xdg_wm_base@3: error 4: xdg_surface buffer (894 x 554) does not match the configured maximized state (1920 x 1020) The Wayland connection experienced a fatal error: Protocol error”.

Even-though, the calculations are done, as seen below. 

I also tested with gmx_MMPBSA_test  but again the same error,

It seems like a wayland display server error, any suggestion on how I can solve it?

I am running on Ubuntu on WSL2

Is there a way to use X11 server / VcXsrv for WSL2 to view the GUI of  gmx_MMPBSA_ana?

As far as I know, GUI is not well supported in WSL. Have you tried with any other Qt-based application? For example, PyMOL...

We are considering translating the gmx_MMPBSA_ana to a web integration to avoid these problems but it can take a while.

Hello, thank you for your reply. Yes, I tested with few other Linux GUI applications (Xlogo, Xboard, Nautilus), all seems to be working in current WSL instance except this one. 

No, I have not tested it with Pymol. Can you please provide link if there is  a "how-to" page? Thank you.

As far as I know, you must follow these instructions (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/tutorials/gui-apps)

Thank you for your response. I followed the link and updated my wsl and apt. Several example gui app work (eg. nautilus, xboard, xclock, gimp, chrome), except getting the same error message for gmx_MMPBSA_ana. I am (sort of) giving up on this and will wait for the browser based solution and in the meanwhile look for a full linux os desktop.
