Greetings GMusers....

I have been using gmail through outlook 2003 for almost a couple of
years. I am getting an error when I try to send out an email through
one of my accounts.

550 5.4.5 Daily sending quota exceeded. h36sm2957043wxd

However, I am able to receive email to that account. I am not getting
any errors from my second gmail account. I was wondering if you have
seen this before and what could be the cause of it? Any help is greatly
appreciated. A google search was fruitless.

I got over 128 hits on a Google search of "550 5.4.5 Daily sending
quota exceeded". Basically they all boilled down to people hitting
this underpublicized limit
<https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=22839&topic=1526>.
You can only send to 500 people in a given 24 hour period. (at least
with Google's SMTP servers) If you need to continue to send to large
numbers of people, consider setting up your own SMTP server, or using
your ISPs, but be warned that they might have similar restrictions.
Typically only commercial accounts are allowed that many individual
destinations and GMail (and you local ISP probably) are considered
non-commercial accounts.

Zack (Doc)... thank you... however, I do not send but a few emails a
day if at all... this is a personal account and I do not have a
business on the net... Believe me, if I did that much emailing, I would
be using my own domain and using my own SMTP server... Do you have any
other suggestions? I will be running a full virus, adware, pest scan
later today... Any additional help is appreciated... thank you

well... you're on the right track, I'd check to be sure something
isn't sending on your behalf...

Also, it appears from some of the BLOGs I found with that search that
some people claim that they got this error and also had low volume (it
is counting each address in the e-mail, are you sure you're not
forwarding to a lot of people?). I didn't read into them too much,
but perhaps you should. There might have been a common bug they were
running into.

Basically, that's exactly what the error you're receiving means. If
the blogger's ideas don't help any, and you turn up a clean machine
(here's hoping), I'd just file a report at the GMail help link
<https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_bugs?referrer=bugflow>.
I've never heard of someone receiving a reply (so don't hold your
breath), but I have heard of, and personally experienced, it resulting
in a resolution to the problem.
