The Japanese Beetles are wreaking some major destruction on the trees in our Innovation Food Forest! If you have a few minutes to spare or some time available during your lunch, please shake the beetles off the trees and smash as many as you can! Hand picking and removal is the best method to get rid of them but we also have buckets available that we can fill with soapy water to let them drown as well.

If I place some buckets with soapy water strategically, does anyone think they can spend some time on Friday or the weekend drowning the enemy?

Also, if anyone has a source for cheesecloth or similar type of netting that will keep the Japanese beetles off the trees, please contact me! We have no more funding from the grant so donations of materials are much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't think we've fully utilized the soapy water buckets so I'll be leaving them out in the garden through next week. Please take 5 minutes to throw a few Japanese beetles into the water and help us keep the destruction down. I think we all want to see our trees actually produce some fruit this year!

Thanks!
