All Peoples Church with support from the ELCA’s celebration of the 500th Anniversary presents:
KUUMBA Gathering: A Festival of Creative Resistance and Reform
On Saturday, November 5, join artists, organizers, leaders and the community for an afternoon of artistic engagement with the issues of our time that need reform. After a high energy opening, participants will choose 2 workshops co-led by organizers and artists. They will share how art and justice inspire one another. Participants will then work with the artists to create something. At the end of the gathering, we will gather for a talkback and a chance to share what was created. This event, from 1-5pm, is free and open to all ages.
KUUMBA Concert
At 6pm on November 5th, all are invited to an amazing evening of performances by The Alternative, Genesis Renji, Natasha T. Miller, and AGAPE*. The Alternative is a Milwaukee-based ministry working to create sacred moments as an Alternative to ordinary church. Genesis Renji is a son of All Peoples, blending the sacred and secular through prophetic hip hop. Natasha T. Miller is the poet that blew the roof off of Ford Field at the 2015 ELCA Youth Gathering. AGAPE*, who has everything from stadiums to church basements, returns to one of his favorite cities to Sprinkle Sunshine.
