Dear Saints in the Synod,

At the synod assembly last weekend, we collectively decided to honor and engage in the 50th anniversary of the open housing marches in Milwaukee. We are encouraged to participate in the events on August 28 and the 200 Nights of Freedom that follow. We designated Sunday, August 27th as a time within worship and education where we will commemorate the work for civil rights.

One of the provisions of the resolution was that the synod would provide resources in a timely manner. The first opportunity to engage is coming up next Monday (see the announcement below). There will be many more ways to engage in the weeks to come. This is also a collaborative and creative process, so please share your ideas as well!  THANKS!

As we approach the 50th Anniversary of the Open Housing marches in Milwaukee, we remember the important role religious communities played. Looking to the commemoration and 200 Nights of Freedom, this planning meeting begins to draw together faith groups.

Faith leaders and faith communities will gather to discucss plans for collective and congregational involvement as we remember and re-ignite. This is the first planning meeting leading up to the August 28th celebration and kick-off.

Join us Monday, June 12th at either 10am or 6pm. You can RSVP at:

Also, share the Facebook event.
