RMVB as video format

Is it possible to view rm/rmvb as a supported video format? I can see
those files under the "View all files" option, but trying to open them
results in the choose browser dialog appearing. My video players do
allow playback of said format, but unless there is a system wide way
to assign extension to each app, it has to be done on the app's side.
