Error on Ubuntu when trying to run Gmote server...

I get this following error when I try to run Gmote server... does
anyone have a clue what is wrong? Am I missing some java stuff, and if
so what?

Someone please help, I am really looking forward to using this with my
Ubuntu. I am running 64 bit Ubuntu 8.10

i have some problems when i try to run the server also
Ubuntu 8.10

this is what happens when i try to run the .sh

Program will exit.

i have Sun Java 6 update 10?

vlc executable is in the /usr/bin folder..
...
how do i use this thing?

Dadicus: can you find out which version of java that you are running (java -version). The gmote server requires version 1.6 or higher

Azeem: I think this might be because you are running the server by entering the entire path to the .sh file. Please change directory to where the .sh file is found and run it from there.
