Hi Rose,

It looks like the GBrowse configuration files were placed in /etc/apache2/conf.d/gbrowse.conf.  That is not where they should go; the default location would be /etc/gbrowse2, but certainly not in /etc/apache2/conf.d, since that is where included apache configuration files would go.  If there are files there that are not apache configuration files, apache won't start, as you noticed, since perl modules are not parseable as apache configuration files.

 I tried uninstalling apache and reinstalling it by with avail and received the following prints:

invoke-rc.d: initscript apache2, action "start" failed.
