It's lighter, stronger, faster, has a better interior layout than most GMCs and generally uses better material, and it manages to sit on only FOUR TIRES instead of six. So there!!
As for the GMC, It gives me great pleasure to hit it with a Sawzall and dismantle it down to its bones and retire another VIN. So there!!
OK, actually, while much of that might be technically true, and I do love my revcon, I am seriously considering a GMC. Largely because of the support available from this community.
I just wrote that to put the bulls eye on my chest and draw fire away from the ongoing personality conflict.
My wife participates in forums on weight loss and adoption and every few days she tells me about some emotional melt down and subsequent flame war among the participants. These are emotional topics so people have a lot invested in them. I laugh and say how glad I am that this does not happen in the forums I participate in.
I have no opinion about anyone here but I'm very thick skinned so if anyone wants to beat me up over my misguided assertions above it is a service I am happy to provide.

Thanks for fixing the link Gary. That looks like a forerunner to the Sportsvan or something.
Let us see a pic of your 72 Revcon. Dave. I reserve judgement til I see a picture. You could have done something to improve the looks of it, who knows.
I do like the interior set ups of some Revcons. Do you get the looks that we get when you pull into a campground, with all kind of folks coming over while we are unhooking the car, asking all the questions and putting a big smile on your face?
Hey, I don't mind a Revcon guy hanging out here.

Yo Dave! You must be D E S P E R A T E if you have to come to a GMC FORUM to get someone to discuss your ugly Revcon coach. Too bad it only has 4 wheels and sits so high off the ground cause your rear axle has to go under the floor of the coach.
You will only be happy if you sell your Revcon and buy a GMC that has 6 wheels and air suspension in the rear making it the most advanced motorhome available back in the day and still a viable alternative to the modern overpriced stuff available.
My advice sell that ugly beast and buy a GMC cause for the most part we put up with you eccentric types. Except when you get too d... serious and sensitive!

Hey Guy's..
Some really interesting stuff in the 70's..
I had the opportunity to look closely art a Discoverer.. Man they were ahead of their time with the complex fiberglass work etc. but damned the quality control was pitiful.. They had lots of problems with glass not fitting(I mean a half inch too big!) and they were shipping like that..
Good idea with not enough R&D..
We were selling Travco's at the time from our Dodge Dealership.. Made in Brown City Michigan.. For their time they were excellent.. The fiberglass bodies were almost bulletproof...Literaly!

Seriously, interior layout is a lot of compromises.
I like the walking room in the Revcon, the rear bath is pretty spacious.
The side beds come out to make a full size on the right with a very narrow walkway or you can pull the left side out and make one big bed all the way across. You'd climb out of bed into the bathroom or the galley. And there is a bunk above it on the right.
If I had a GMC i would like having the rear bed remain configured as a bed and the table remain a table all the time. And the baby would sleep on the left lower bunk.
But the tiny wet bath would probably annoy me.

You know what Dave, I did not think I would like the wet bath. I do. How much time do we spend in that room? Not much. I have 2 squeegies, that I got at the Dollar Tree for a buck, and can dry that bath in 30 seconds. I always use our bath. I do not like public facilities. The rear bed that Teri and I have is tough to make since it is not a walk around. I would change that if I could but it is not that big a deal. For real, the GMC is pretty well suited to Teri and me. We stay in it for 3-4 months at a time. We have internet and two satellite receivers with flat screens. Our evenings are very much like they are at home. During the daylight hours we are out and gone.

I can smell it now. Oh well, one of these days you will own a running GMC. I had a friend all excited and called me when he bought a Revcon, was a newer one with 454. As he described the running gear I could tell he had nothing that could compare with my GMC and the Quadrabag system we installed. He sold it shortly after his purchase.

As I understand it your Revcon is called a "Flatnose" I did some looking on
the Internet and found a Revcon website and noted that the later models
"Slantnose" were much nicer looking.
I also noted that they had tandem rear wheels, do they have a rear
suspension system like the GMC?

I think the Vixen's are cool looking. It was actually a Vixen that gave me the "hey how about a cool vintage motorhome instead of a trailer" bug. I saw one in traffic.
I started doing research, thinking it was FWD and found the GMC, and then remembered the EM-50 and that was it for me.
After I got my GMC I saw a vixen and got a look inside. everything was fiberglass, like a Casita trailer, and that really turned me off. Felt like a cheap boat.
I, too, thought the wet bath would be a problem, but we had one when I was a kid in a cabover camper, and it was actually fine for showering. Like Dan says, it is easy to squeegee clean, and we do this everyday at home on the big glass shower door anyway.
Most Dry bath coaches I have seen have water damage around the shower, and the rooms are too small to lean forward, and, well, you know.

Wow! Thanks for posting that Discoverer link.

whoa man. I always wanted to drive a shoebox. I know what happened at Revcon... some engineer was under pressure to get the design going so he went home and his kid asked for help with his soap box derby car. Carl,
Tell him to make some measurements before he decides to buy anything.
The Travco engine box was designed for a 360 with a torqueflite. When they went to the big block (first 413 then 440) it was a shoehorn job (maybe like some people shoving Cad 500s in GMC?)
A Cummins 5.9 is a LONG motor and quite tall. We had some serious packaging issues when that came along.

Wow, that discovererer, used to be sold near to my home. They had a small lot of them. I recall they looked good but sold slowly. Memory tells me they were part of a movie prop that went on sale.
They did not come without problems. The one big one was you could not see if there was anything in front of the grill.
The fix was to put those big round mirrors on the corners so they could see there were no dogs or kids in front of the bumper before they put it in drive.
I don't recall any other negative comments other than that.
I liked the look though.

They were very nice to work with, and I wanted to get the title to
