The plan is to move the Royale early tomorrow morning before it gets hot
and before there's bad traffic. Tom Phipps will be assisting along with his
lovely wife and my wife. Can anybody let me know what the proper torque
specs are?

Robin,
Alcoa torque is 140ft/lb. Would guess that Eagles are the same. Only time mine have ever been torqued is when America's Tire installs new ones or rotates.
I don't have a torque wrench so I just make 'em goodentight with my 16" handle lug wrench.. Have never lost a wheel on the GMC or any other vehicle in many+ years of driving.

Hey Jim,

When I called you guys, Nick said 125 torque on the American Eagle Aluminums. Which is it?

Thanks,

At least 125, not more than 140. Howz'at? My 78 has 16" steel wheels. GMC
Shop manual says 250. Thread chart for Grade 8 9/16" diameter threaded
fasteners is 85. Go figure.

The fact that the Alcoa and Amer.Eagle lug nuts hahe a washer that allows
the nut to spin with less friction unlike the original with a fixed
washerthat is larger diameter.
When you torque it by hand, you will feel it maxing out.
First time on a new aluminum wheel is important to do it right as the
aluminum can settle in at times. On customers coach we use a torque wrench
to firm them up.
Majority of the tire shops over torque then go around to make sure they got
all to specified torque. More of a show , as they have no time to get it
right on and difference between 125-150 0n a wheel is not critical when you
have 8 per wheel that hol
