Hello Everyone
I need a Quadrajet Carburetor for an engine I am replacing in a coach.

The Carb number I need has to be either a 7043254 out of a 73 or 74 coach.

OR I could possibly use a 7045254 but I would like to have the other as it is a direct year replacement.

Please let me know if you have one that you can sell me.

Thank you

Hey Paul,
If no one else has a Qjet of the #’s you are needing, Jeff Sirum has rebuilds. Paul Doane from Canada does the rebuilds for Sirum GMCMH. Following rebuild, he puts the rebuilt carb on his 73 455, and using a AFR gauge, rejets them for proper AFR. I have watched him do several and he does good work. Just FYI.

Hope you and Marty are well. Also hope to see yo at the Eclipse rally in Texas next spring. Always good to see you two.

Larry. :-)

Paul,
Core charges on a carb for a 455 engine have been running at a little over $395. A remanufactured carb core costs plus $425, a total of $820 plus shipping. From Applied GMC.  The cores are getting very difficult to find.  Fuel injection is not much more.  There are still a lot of 403 carbs available, but they will not work.

Someone needs to rename him the “Carb Doctor”

Paul, I have one from a ’76, and I’ll get you the number when I’m home next week (enjoying the last of fall foliage here in the Ohio Valley).

Hello Cameron
Thank. You for answering my email although I see that other people are trying to get carbs through my email

What is the number on the carburetor. If you do not know I would be interested anyway.

Do you at least know what year it came off of if you do not know the number

Let me know your thoughts on how much you would like for it.

It would be nice if you wrote your own email to ask for a carburetor instead of using my email to complete your wishes.

Paul,

it is from a 73 painted desert.  I am not near the coach at the moment, but will be up there in a couple weeks and can get the number then.  I dont have any need for it and this forum has been extremely helpful in my EFI transition so I would just like to have shipping covered.

I have a used Rochester Quadrajet that I would sell, but I don't have a clue where the p/n shows on it.  Came off our engine in a '76 GMC Eleganza II.

Hi Cameron
That is exactly what I need to put on this 73 engine to keep it stock.
I will be more then happy to pay the shipping plus, just let me know how much it is and I will either PayPal you or send you a check or hand you cash if your going to the next convention in Texas.

Just text me when you have the carburetor and I will send the money. 305 766 7664

Thanks, I appreciate it

Hi Bob
The number is on the side of the carburetor stamped into the housing and the number will be probably 7 numbers and then letters..
These carburetors are all different especially if they come from California.

This is not a GMCMH carb, it is from a Cad 500. But the #s are located in the same vicinity on most Qjet carbs.

HI Bob.
That Carb is from a California 76 model. Would you mind telling me what you want for it.?

I can’t use it for the 73 engine I have but can always use it for another project.

Paul.

I have no clue what to ask.  Is $100 too much, plus shipping cost?  Where are you located? I'm in Eastern Tennessee.

It may not be number correct but it should work just fine on any GNCMH 455.

I WANT number correct for a reason and that reason is that they are jetted differently so saying it will work does not mean that it will work properly.
I do not have complete sets of metering rods to change the jetting.

And what’s the jet in yours or I should say the one I have on my coach ?

It seems to be running a bit lean, plugs are a very light brown, very light.

thanks

Thank you for the advice, I have known Dick for a number of years through the club. He was a racer for years and so was I, the difference is he ran gasoline and I ran Nitro Methane.
Consequently he knows a lot more about gasoline engines.

I will change them out and see if it changes the lean problem. After about 65mph or 2800 rpm (307 rear end) this engine gets quite hot, (over 200 water) and (over 220 oil temp).
