Hi All,

Just wondering when everyone is planning to take the exam and what you're focusing on?

My quant is already quite strong, so I'm looking to improve mostly in reading comprehension and a little in critical reasoning.

My target score is around 780 and I will be testing in mid-late August.

Hey there

I haven't registered for the gmat yet. I plan on taking multiple mock test till I reach my target score before I register. My target score is 710.  I need to shore up my quant quite a bit so its nice to hear that your strong in Quant. As for verbal, my confidence in that section is more than quant but still need improvement there.

As for preparing for RC,  I have been told to read through articles on Scientific American, Harvard Business Review, New York times, WSJ. If anyone has more tips on RC to share please do.

Hi srabani here..

Well my concern is verbal..But at the same time i got perplxed while attempt to solve quant..So i need to focus o both,,Target score >720.But now i am just in 600 category. So need to improve a lot..

There are so many resources..For my verbal I am solely depending on : MANHATTAN GMAT VERBAL STRATEGY GUIDE. and i also use grockit for practice

My SC section is weak specially when I have to interpret the meaning of whole sentence,,

Hey all,

I plan on taking the exam in late August/September.

Verbal is definitely my strength. I have a lot of math review to do because I haven't seen any of that stuff since high school.

I'm shooting for somewhere around 750.

Thanks again for setting this up.

Hi All,

I am Radha. My test date is in the middle of October. My target score is above 720. My quant is better than verbal. However, for GMAT I have work hard on both, a little harder on verbal.

It will be good to have sessions for RC and CR.

Good day
Radha

If anyone is interested, perhaps we can schedule sessions in which we discuss some problems that we're having difficulty with?

Yes a weekly schedule would help. We can adjust it weekly to keep it flexible.  I'm usually available around 8:PM CST during the weekday and mid morning would work for me on the weekends.

Can you help explain this question?

If x is positive, is x > 4?

(1) (4  x)^2 < 1
(2) (x  4)^2 < 1

Good luck Vaibhav!

Sandeep: Unfortunately I'm not at 51 yet either! I haven't really started quant yet, but my plan is to go through the MGMAT books and do all of the OG questions. I hope that's enough!

I realize that's probably the bare minimum for most people so it may not be valuable advice. I guess just try to identify your weaknesses and work them out. I know Vaibhav does this well - he was having trouble with absolute values so he did 6700 absolute value questions :)

Sandeep,

In order to score higher in Maths, one has to get maximum number of questions correct. Now we all know the topics that are tested in quant section. (http://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-ps-question-directory-by-topic-difficulty-127957.html). Looking at this list, you should be in a better position to address the question, are you good to solve the questions from any of these topics within 2mins. If yes, you are on your way to 51 and glory. If no, you have your answer and also where to start with. Its the most meaningful way to look at it.

I am weak at Overlapping sets, Sequences (learning to solve the questions within 2mins), Stats and set problems, etc, and I am currently working on them by taking one tag at a time and solving the questions. Expert replies to these questions help me to sail in the right direction. Its not enough to vouch that you can solve a certain question; but can you solve this within 2mins? Thats the challenge one has to address. I am slowing realizing this as I am nearing to my D Day and working on it.

Vaibhav.

Vaibhav, good thing you made me check out the available dates. Not much is available!

I've booked mine for August 21st. Man, once you book the date the pressure really starts to hit!
