I wonder if and when the author has time to develop a Chrome version
of this wonderful extension?

Google has set up their extension gallery now: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/

Me too want a version of GMarks for Chrome. Theyr (Google) integration
don't work crossplatform with Firefox or IE so I don't switck to
Chrome 'till I have this extension working.

I'm actually going to be looking into this pretty soon. I might make it. Google does have their own syncing of standard bookmarks to Google Docs though.

Yeah but!
1) Google system is not cross platform. I use Firefox on 3 pcs (Vista,
XP e Ubuntu) +one at work (XP) and I want to use Chrome/Chromium on
some of my home machines but I reaaly want to keep bookmarks synched
so I wait for Gmarks for Chrome

2) They sync with gDocs not with gBookmarks. This is a lame move for
me.

I can't live without Gmarks. Firefox will remain my default browser
until it is available in Chrome.

I'll second that. I just counted (Exported to HTML, ran

grep HREF bookmarks.html | wc -l

and got 865. I can't work without GMarks either.

Could you kindly shed some light on this, I don't know any simple way
of getting bookmarks into Docs?

In chrome open the preferences, go to personal stuff, and you should see an option to sync your bookmarks.
They show up in the google chrome folder of google docs.

I saw that, but Chrome bookmarks don't get imported directly from
Google Bookmarks and exporting via html files causes loss of meta data
so how's that any good?

I will not switch to Chrome without GMarks. As simple as that.

Here's another vote for GMarks on Chrome. Google's current
implementation actually loads thee bookmarks into the browser. That's
fine on my primary machine, but I don't want to load them into a
family member or work computer. And as other's say, Google Bookmarks
are cross platform compatible.

I use Chrome almost exclusively, and GMarks is the add-on I miss most
from Firefox.

There are now several google bookmarks extensions for google chrome.

This one looks decent: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/hojigclpigghnkdhhkhgjobmoghdecae

You can search for others at https://chrome.google.com/extensions.
It doesn't seem like there is a real need for me to port gmarks over.
Their extension system could use more development anyway.

I would very much like to see a GMarks extension in Chrome as well.
It's the only thing holding me back from completely switching from FF
to Chrome. Please build one!

Merry Christmas!

First off, I do not guarantee the extension will work for you and
honestly won't be releasing this to the general public so bug fixes
probably won't happen. That being said, the extensions works fine
for
me on 4.0.296.0 (Mac) and 4.0.266.0 (Windows).
The extension is a subset of the amazing Gmarks for Firefox version.
You
can press a hot key and a text box will appear. Just start typing
and
it will automatically search your Google Bookmarks and return
relevant
matches. The hot key is hard wired to 'Home-Home'. That is the home
key twice in a row.

Enjoy!
