Mac and FF14.0.1 Bookmarks Import

Hi all,
after clicking "manage bookmarks" and "import", why do I only get the option to import from FF? Is it not possible to import from html? The problem is that the import from FF does not progress. All I am getting is a bar which says "importing" but it does not move, and no bookmarks get transferred.
Any other ideas/tools how to import my bookmarks to Gmarks are welcome.
I am using a Macbook with OS X 10.5.8 and FF 14.0.1.
