I have some big features and bug fixes for you.

MAJOR FEATURE: Google Maps Extension no longer slows down the Edit
page. External JavaScript files won't be loaded until you click the
"make a map" button.

MAJOR FEATURE: Browsers that do not support Google Maps will see a
flat PNG version of maps, rather than an error message. (Turn off
JavaScript in your browser to test this feature.)

MINOR FEATURE: Select a marker label from a drop-down list in the
Editor's Map. You can customize this list by setting the 'iconlabels'
option to a comma-separated list in your $wgGoogleMapsDefaults. By
default, A-Z is available.

BUG FIX: Restored compatibility with MediaWiki 1.7

BUG FIX: Restored compatibility with PHP 4

BUG INTRODUCED: This release has some weirdness with Safari due to a
bug in the Google Maps API. Hopefully Google will fix this soon.
