Fellow wiki-cartographers:
Today I've put together a new release of Google Maps Extension.
* Download:
http://wso.williams.edu/wiki/extensions/GoogleMaps-0.8.0.zip
* Install:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Google_Maps/InstallationNew features in 0.8.0 include:
* Polygon support,
i.e., color an entire area of the map. Thanks to Joshua Hodge.
* New toolbar button on the edit page. This replaces the "make a map" link. Thanks again to Joshua Hodge.
* New 'stroke' option sets default path thickness
* The mouse wheel zooms a map in and out
* Searches have a "back" link to restore the previous perspective
* New "show points" link on the edit page will recenter the map around a particular path
* Performance improvements
* Chinese translation (courtesy
wiki.000112.com)
* Russian translation (courtesy
lepotisi.ru)
Change:
* Kilometers is the default measurement unit, replacing meters.
Bug fixes:
* Three controls on the edit page failed to update the map syntax
* Map syntax required a space before the marker description, despite documentation to the contrary
* Numerous warnings have been fixed.
* Compatible with $wgUseTidy = true; (I think)
This release includes quite a bit of work by Joshua Hodge of Turbine to make the underlying code cleaner; a big thanks to him for the much-needed effort. It's possible that I introduced a bug or two while modifying his contributions, so if you notice anything funny, either leave a note on the Wiki talk page (
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_talk:Google_Maps) or just email me directly and I'll take a look. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the new version!
