Hi David,

GMaps4JSF 3.0.0 is now supporting Google Maps v3, and as you know Google Maps v2 is now outdated so the current development team focus and support is on GMaps4JSF 3.0.0.

I think you need to migrate your old code to the new GMaps 3 as version 2 will not be supported anymore from anyone.

However, you are welcome to submit patches to old versions like GMaps4JSF 1.1.3 and sure we can assist in the fix.

I have been looking information in the forum and the related issues but I haven't been able to find an accurate response.

I developed some years ago an application using RichFaces 3.3 (so jsf 1.2) and gmaps4jsf 1.1.3. I've seen now an announcement from Google (https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/v2) saying that Google Maps v2 only will work until May 19, 2013, and I suppose that gmaps4jsf only works with this version, and not with the new version 3.

Is that assumption right? Are gmaps4jsf 1.1.4 or new coming maintenance versions fixing this kind of issues?

If not and I have to migrate to gmaps4jsf 3.x, my (big) problem is that I will have to migrate also the rest of components to RichFaces 4 and JSF 2, which would be a strong work.

Thanks in advance!
David

Do not forget to keep in mind that GMaps4JSF 1.1.4 is working only on GMaps v2. My recommendation is to migrate to GMaps v3 whether you will use GMaps4JSF 3.0.0 OR any other map components in any other JSF libraries.

GMaps v2 will be out of support soon so you cannot rely on it.

Thanks for your quick response.

I believe that my best option now is to forget me about GMaps4JSF and to work directly with the Google Maps API, but I'm considering too to check the code of the GMaps4JSF 1.1.4 and build the changes needed to preserv the compatility (and after publish, of course).

Regards!
