Just uploaded the last set of pictures from here.

I'm taking a bus to Merida in a couple hours. It's quite sad to leave
here, but even if this area is where I end up deciding to look for
some work, I want to see a bit more of Mexico first. (Also, part of
the sadness is that the CELTA students have finally dispersed fully,
and that wouldn't be changed by my staying here.)

This past week has been quite fun. I've been to Tulum and Xcaret,
spent a fair amount of time hanging out on the beach, and went to a
couple different birthday/farewell parties. I was going to go to a
free salsa class the other night, but after waiting an hour decided to
give up. (Yes, I know that probably surprises you. But I went with
Emma (from Scotland) and Catherine (from England), so we were all in
the same boat as far as knowing nothing about this kind of dance and
not being particularly "dancy" people to begin with. So it would have
been a sort of safety in numbers thing.)

The current plan is to visit (for a few days each) Merida, Campeche,
Villahermosa, and San Cristobal de las Casas, before heading into
Guatemala for a little while. (I hadn't yet decided when exactly to
do that, but I'm currently talking to someone near Guatemala City who
I found through CouchSurfing.com and who might have a place to stay
with her family, so to help her figure something out, I said I'd
arrive on September 26.)

After that, I have no idea. I may stay just a few days in Guatemala,
or I may decide to travel more extensively there, depending on how I
like the place. Upon returning to Mexico (which is where I still plan
to teach), I've decided I want to make it at least as far as the state
of Veracruz before starting to look for work. It may be in Veracruz
itself, or someplace I visited earlier. Or, as Emma and I both find
ourselves hoping, Garrett or Dan will have discovered several really
great sounding jobs where they are. Then they'll let the two of us
know about the ones they didn't pick, and neither of us will have to
actually make any real decisions. :-)

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

PS - I know several of you have requested postcards, none of which
have been sent yet. But I figure that since I'm now staying in Mexico
for quite awhile, I have some time yet. Of course, the Mexican post
being what it is, I probably could have just gone ahead and claimed I
already sent them. You still wouldn't receive any for about a month.
