After almost two weeks, I'm still enjoying my teaching job, and I plan
on coming back in January to continue teaching here for at least a
couple more months.
I am planning to eventually rent a room or an apartment, but haven't
been searching very diligently yet. I did just look at a room that
was $600 (prices are all in pesos, as usual) per month, but it was
pretty horrible and the communal bathroom didn't have hot water. I'm
hoping to find something much nicer that's still under $1000, but I
know that if I budget well, I can afford a place for $1500. (Though
at that point, if it isn't really nice, I may as well just stay in one
of the several $50/night hostels in order to continue meeting
interesting travellers who come through here.) I'm making $725/week,
and can eat without any real trouble for under $50/day. Except, of
course, for when I get tired of Mexican food and pasta and elect to
spend almost twice that much on a single meal at the Indian/Thai place
here...
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I didn't realize until
Friday or Saturday that it had been last week, but then I wasn't going
to have a big turkey dinner with my family anyway, so it's not as if I
really missed anything.
I am coming home for Christmas (on the 23rd, to leave the morning of
January 6th), so if people are going to be around (western) Michigan
at that time, let me know if you'd want to get together at all.
