Ahoy,

So over the past two weeks or so, I've occasionally been unable to view
the messages in my gmail account. This happens at what I imagine are
high-load times (09:00-10:00 and 20:00-22:00 or thereabouts), and
usually either times out with the "unable to perform operation" popup,
or -- if I try to force-reload the page -- or returns the "internal
server error" page.

Today, though, I'm getting actual error codes. So far, I've seen Error
Code 704 and 717.
These appear to be Google- or Gmail-internal error codes, so I'm
wondering if anyone can shed some light on the problem.

Oh, and of course (how else could it be?), the problem is
unpredictable, and is resolved without any further action on my part.

Exact error text below:

(in a non-modal dialogue popup, on Firefox 1.5.0.1)

Oops... the system was unable to perform your operation (error code
717).
Please try again in a few seconds.

I had never seen those before, but I just saw one with code 602. I
suppose for some reason we are getting to see the error number. Maybe
they expect it to be included in bug reports?

gmail to begin with)

Yeah, I'm experiencing those error #s on what seems to be at least once daily (and even sometimes even twice daily! :-( )...just at random times when I go to check my email, one of those two error codes will be given to me...I'll then refresh, and get a Internal Server Error, refresh a couple seconds later and usually Gmail will just reload although once it went in a cycle where it would first give me the Internal Server Error, I'd refresh and it'd act like Gmail was reloading fine but it'd time out, so I'd refresh and get the Internal Server Error again, continued like that for around 6-7 times...:-(...seems like Google may unfortunately be experiencing a bit heavier of a load then they had planned for...(and gmail seems to be lagging quite a bit lately too :-(, especially around 8-10PM Pacific Standard Time...guess a lot of people use Gmail around then)...hopefully Gmail will add the necessary hardware to deal with all the load Gmail is experiencing...great service, I'd hate to see it get overloaded :-(

No Kidding, Gmail is hetting overloaded. Not only now any i
experiencing thoses error messages (#602), Gmail is becoming SLOWER.
Contantly, im always pressing "F5" (Reload/Refresh). I feel sorry for
google's gmail, it's trying to "eat" more memory than its servers can
"swallow".
