I saw that my gmail inbox stopped importing my yahoo emails for the
past 1 week and I thought may be a re-creation of the same account
might REFRESH the settings or something and kick in the process.

So I deleted my yahoo account at gmail > Settings > Accounts and
Import screen. I have been trying to configure the same yahoo account
for the past 1 hour at the same screen and couldn't get it done
successfully. Unsure what the issue is.

Steps I did:
1) Clicked on "Import mail and Contacts" button
2) It popped up a new screen, i entered my yahoo email address in
the form of user...@yahoo.com and clicked submit.
3) Next it asked me password
4) I entered the correct password (just alphanumerics and no
special characters too)

Current behavior:
I get a red msg saying "Could not validate this combination of email
address and password."

Any idea if am doing any thing wrong here? Appreciate if some one
could help me out.

Thank You

It sounds as though Google believes it has the wrong username/password for the account.  Have you gone to Yahoo to validate there's not a problem with the account?  It's also possible that Yahoo has decided to block Google's servers, so that's something to consider as well.

Thanks Zac, Later I understood that it's some glitch with Yahoo Pop settings which actually shouldn't allow any emails to be imported to any other email-account or even outlook, that it allowed atleast 6K emails to get imported accidentally in the last week.

Now am fine with this. Sorry for the false-alarm. Appreciate , how ever, your response.

By The Way , GMail Labs rock.

Thanks and have a great day,

Oh hi to all,

I am new to this forum if I do something wrong against the rules
please give me a buzzer.

BUT, I am having a similar problem and I am not getting anywhere. I
have goggled and it has taken me nowhere either.
I want to import my emails and contacts from yahoo mail to Gmail
account. Let's say my email is: pe...@yahoo.com.au. It has au at the
end. So where it says: POP username I have put (peter). Where it says
POP server I have put (pop.mail.yahoo.com.au).
I have tried using IE8 and also FF 3.5. I tried many times in both
browsers and I get this message: Could not validate this combination
of email address and password. This popup is in red colour. I must say
that my yahoo account is NOT plus, meaning NOT paid.

Can anybody please help me? Thanks in advance!

Have you found this wiki?  It seems to address your situation.

This is the problem. Yahoo only allows POP access to paid accounts. If you wish to set up POP access to a regular Yahoo account, you will ahve to use one of a number of programs that sort of "translate" between the web access and the POP access. Off the top of my head, there are FreePOPs, Ypops, and Affixa (I think). They (and others) are all fairly easy to find via a search.
