The only time one can actually see the doodles is to go to
google.com..
sure would be nice if there were some mention of google on
gnotifier and gmail so that we can see this as well..

yes, i know i can go to the home pave and ABOUT and see the doodles
but half the fun
and is to see the MAGIC as it occurs..
after that it is just a historical SOMETHING....

there was a time that gmail icon was changed (tho later in the day and
after I had logged in)
and it was shown..
pity to not let those who use the product see the magic.

Maybe I'm slow ... but what's this got to do with Gmail?

Google's doodles appear on the main Google search webpage. As far as I know
they have never appeared on Gmail's webpage. Gmail is a separate "product",
separate from the main Google search. The only time I heard when Gmail's
logo changed for a day, was probably on April 1st.

Eh? I think that if you use the product (Google search), you will see "the
magic".

If you want to see their logos, make it a point to visit the webpage. That
shouldn't be so hard.

The only time a doodle appeared in GMail was when they changed the
GMail logo for whatever reason. It would not make any sense at all to
change the GMail logo to the Google logo just because there is a new
doodle.

I, for one, can honestly say that no, I don't recall ever seeing them on GMail too.

I have to say that I agree with Zack; I never remember a Google
logo-of-the-day doodle appearing as the Gmail logo that day too. I was
collecting Google logos for about 6 years (not all of them, but when I
could), for longer than I've had Gmail (4+ years).

If you've got proof that Gmail in fact did this, I'd like to see it. I'm
sure it is well documented in the Gmail or Google blogs, if they really did
this as regularly as you say.

But I am a bit puzzled how they would have worked the "Google" bit into the
"Gmail" logo, since they don't have the same letters. Maybe it worked in
Britain or other countries where Gmail is known as "Googlemail", but
probably not in the USA where the service is known as "Gmail".

Frankly, I find your attitude ('I'm right because I'm right so don't try to
tell me otherwise') a little condescending and unnecessary, and tends to
make your observations on the matter somewhat suspect.

hummm. condescending..
but of course if you (or Zack) dont remember and you have been
collecting them since the beginning of time, therefore i am
incorrect...

andy andy...
the doodles were 'instead ' of the gmail logo, just as small as the
gmail logo is...and they too lasted a day...
where were you? nnot watching the page or engrossed in the emails
coming your way?

perhaps contact with your favorite gmailER will be sufficient..
but then, i dont want to be condescending in suggesting that you
consult with a gmailER...... ..

tell me, any snippet issues with you yet? or is an occurance with only
my personal and singular gmail version that the issue exists on?
Or do you not use snippets and therefore dont notice the issue and so
therefore it does not exist?

I came to the list with an issue.. and returned again today with
another instance has hit my personal and special gmail account.
an incoming email via a list.. read and moved to trash but not
deleted...
in comes another email and the snippet for that new email??? oh it is
the snippet of that one in the trash, not the snippet of the new
email..
so please.. take the observations for what they are and flick off the
chip that is balancing on your own shoulder...
record the issue, give either the doodles of the snippets their equal
rights and get past the personal...

too funny...

Wow. Perhaps you didn't realize you were talking to fellow Gmail users? And when none of them remembered seeing the Gmail logo get changed, you got kind of snippy. Now you seem to be attacking them for reacting to your snippiness and condescension. Perhaps that is not how you intended it, but it did kind of come across that way.
Out of curiosity, have you looked up Gmail Doodles in the Help files? If you can't find any info, maybe contact Gmail about it? Or submit a suggestion about it?

Well, I don't have perfect memory, nor a complete record of the doodles, though I did subscribe at one time to the Google Calendar that listed the changes logos when they appeared.  Sean is right, your tone is very abrasive, and it's like you're accusing us of removing them, or causing the problems you're having with snippets.  We're a user's group, with no official connection or association with Google themselves.  We can no more affect your account than we can cure world hunger.

On that note, and to put things in a little better perspective, you need to remember,
a) just because no one else is reporting the problem with snippets, or
b) no one else has a memory of the GMail logo being replaced with a doodle
Doesn't mean they necessarily happen to only your account.  Other people are using the product in different ways than you are, and most certainly have different interests than you.  We might be experiencing what you're seeing, but take no notice of it.  It is, however, entirely possible that there is something unique about your account that you ARE the only one experiencing it.  Only Google can actually tell, which is why you have to report problems directly to them; not a user's group.  A user group, like us, can only confirm if we see the problem too, and offer advise.

If the snippet thing is bothering you that much, take your detailed notes and make an official report to Google.  It seems clear to me that no one else on this list is being bothered by it, whether we see it or not.

As far as the Doodles... here (http://www.google.com/logos/) is the site where Google houses ALL the changed logos they've ever done, whether it showed up in your country or not.  I looked through several pages, and even used their search tool, but could find no reference to a changed GMail logo.  Sorry, but I can find no evidence that what you apparently observed, actually happened.  If you'd like it (brought back), then again, file an official report with Google and perhaps they'll act on it.

Hi all

I don't remember ever seeing doodles in Gmail. Googling for it also
only turns up, guess what... this thread! Can't you be happy enough
with the doodles on the home page and themes in Gmail?

Cheers
