Maybe go to your profile
(http://groups.google.com/groups/profile?myprofile&safe=on) then click
on "Search author's posts" without anything in the box.

So long as you know how to make your way back here to read them(!)
then you can click on the "More options" of any recent question of
yours and use the "Find messages by this author". Or, if you've become
a member, then click on the "Edit my Membership" (over there on the
right hand side) and you should see your profile, with your questions
(or answers!)

It's working for me, both on my e-mail address, as well as with yours... i see the two posts you've made.

Were you possibly searching before your posts had passed moderation?  This is a moderated group, and you messages do not instantly make it to the group.  It said as much when you hit the post button.

ryan,

profile option does show recent activity of posts by me, there is no
search option (no profile created). thanks for the help.

As a search-centric company, it seems like a very poor design that a
search for my email or name comes up with nothing, and no "show my
messages" option like other forums have.

JohnW: there is no "find by author" option, i have checked, but the
profile option works - i don't know why they would want to hide the
posts away there, but whatever works.

The instructions as per
http://groups.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=46022 work
fine for me, using both the advanced search method and author:
operator.
Perhaps you could supply us with some more details, eg. web browser and version.

Browse to the group page at
http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-users?hl=en and select one of
your own posts, click 'more options' and then 'Find messages by this
author'.

Cheers

Marko

web broswer is Chrome 3.0

now the author: search option works, perhaps my posts has not been
approved yet.

the options button has no option as you describe for me, it just
shows:

Standard view View as tree
Proportional text Fixed text
Email updates to me

thanks

Well, when I clicked on the 'More options' on your original posting,
there was "Find messages by this author" (last link in the blue row
"Reply | Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show
original | Report this message | Find messages by this author")
clicked on it and up comes a Google page of 23 messages all attributed
to you!

as the author of the THREAD i had no idea you were referring to the
more options under a given MESSAGE, i was thinking of each thread as a
unit like GMAIL does - not of the individual messages in that thread,
but you are right, the feature is hidden there, thanks.

Glad you found it, hope the pics helped. I assumed you were referring
to individual messages when you wrote 'posts I have made', all in the
semantics I guess ;)

yes post = topic = thread

at least it seems to on this board - if you notice the "new post"
button starts a new topic, while adding to a post is called a reply.

thanks
