accessing hotmail account

I'm trying to retreive my hotmail email from within Gmail using the
feature that allows you to access other accounts. I keep getting the
following error message, Server returned error: "Connection timed
out". Gmail is trying to access the hotmail server on port 110. Is
there a work-around for this problem?

Hotmail doesn't support POP3 (afaik). This is a problem with their
service, and there is no (legal) workaround.

I add legal cause I'm sure there are services/systems out there that
will scrape your hotmail, and provide it to you in a POP3 format, but
that is (afaik) a violation of your Hotmail Terms of Use. I am not a
lawyer, your mileage may vary.

Hotmail supports pop only with a paid subscription, that maybe the problem.
