no there is no directory available for other gmail users. imagine the
implications that would evolve from having one huge database of gmail
users.. spammers would have their picking on all of us.

nope no way for you to tell you exactly the email is from. you can't
find out a name.

you could always try emailing him and ask, or just stick it in your
spam box if its rubbish
