They have since fixed that limitation. So I tried using it again.
But it's not working right!
It correctly shows a list of messages that meet my criteria, but when
I click on one of those messages, I don't see it. All it shows me is
the subject and any labels, and a big empty white area where the body
of the message should be.
If I click on Delete, it seems to delete the message, but then
re-appears a minute later.
Am I the only one having this problem? I am only seeing this with the
Multiple Inboxes. Clearing cache/cookies doesn't seem to help.

Yes, that's it exactly. Messages in spam apparently aren't available
in that particular view, even though they are listed.
Strange, since they are available in every other view that includes
them. I consider it a bug.
There's also some weirdness because attempting to view one of them (if
it was unread) or mark it as read, causes the unread count to decrease
for about 10 seconds, then it pops back up again.
