Video's emailed to me of late open in full glory with the exception of the moving picture itself.  I have accidentally clicked something while crashing (oops, bad word) around trying to find the reason, and up pops the picture, but I never know what I did.  I now can't even accidentally make it work.  Help?

So, people email you videos as attachments? And if you save them to
your computer and play them, the sound works but the video doesn't? If
that's the situation, you probably don't have the codec to play
them... do you know what type of video they are?

Ryan, You say it so well. I must have had the codec because
everything with the exception of an occasional .eml worked for many
months. I will keep an account of the failure video types.
Meanwhile, what's a codec? Donna
PS: I'm trying to rate your post as a 5 star, but it won't let me go
past one star, nor eliminate it so that you won't think I'm not
grateful.

A codec is a way of storing audio/video information. There are a lot
of them out there, produced by different companies and groups, such as
Apple, Microsoft, Real, and others. If you're computer doesn't have a
certain codec, it is unable to play files encoded with it.

If they aren't personal, could you maybe forward one of the videos
that doesn't work completely to me? I may be able to figure what you
need to get it to work. If you don't want to send them, what is their
extension (ie, ".avi," ".mov," etc.)?*

Ryan

*The extension, unfortunately, may not tell us much. A lot of
different types can hide inside a .avi.
