How to keep muted conversations muted?

I belong to several high-traffic groups on Facebook, and am set to get notifications by email.  The groups' notifications share a particular label.

I want to see the first notice of a thread in my Inbox, but then I mute the conversation so that I can see further comments when I have time.

However, new notifications for existing threads are still coming to my Inbox.  They carry the label "Muted", but ...

I know that Gmail will disregard muting for messages in which one's personal address appears in the TO or CC field, but all of these are TO the Facebook groups' addresses.

I thought of creating a filter that would archive messages that carry the labels "XYZ" and "Muted", but don't see a way to do that.  (In fact, I don't see how to create any filter using a label as a criterium.)

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

To search for a label in a filter, use the "Has the words:" box and something like "label:muted"... it will give you a warning that it won't work, but it will.

I am not sure if this applies to Muted conversations ... but under Settings > Inbox, there is a category "Filtered mail" with two choices:
  • Override filters - Include important messages in the inbox that may have been filtered out.
  • Don't override filters
If you have the first choice selected, you might want to switch it to the "Don't override filters" choice.

Excellent point, Andy.  I do think that override filters does override the muted as well.

Thanks, Zack; this did the trick.

Thanks also for your suggestion, Andy, but I already had "Don't override filters" checked.
