Hi
3 hours ago i sent an email (with a file, 300kB, attached) from the
office to my home.
It was a mdb access file to finish some work at home.

Not arrived yet. I sent other, simple text emails, and they arrived ok.

Last week same thing happened with another email w/ attach. Never
received it.

Why? Is there any problem with access files?
Thanks

i was under the impression that mdb and exe's were not able to be sent
as attachments. you should have changed the extension just to be safe.

I've read that as well. Oddly enough, you *can* receive Word docs (I
just tried it), which can get macro viruses. Go figure.

To quote gmail's help page

quote -- "As a security measure to prevent potential viruses, Gmail
does not allow you to receive executable files (such as files ending in
.exe) that could contain damaging executable code.
Gmail does not accept these types of files, even if they are sent in a
zipped (.zip, .tar, .tgz, .taz, .z, .gz) format. If someone tries to
send this type of message to your Gmail account, the message will be
bounced back to the sender." -- end

I've found that this also seems to effect mdb files as well. a simple
way around this is to rename the file you want to send to some random
extension, ie. 'bigfile.exe' to 'bigfile.c' and then change it back
once you download it back to your computer. Hope this helps you.

Well, Gmail might be brave, but forbidding Word docs takes more than
courage. ;-D You have any idea _how many_ people would linch them
immediately? [:-)]

Yeah, I thought of that. But why strain out the gnats (.mdb files)
once you've swallowed the camel (word files)?

Assuming the person on the other end is capable of handling .rar
files. You could also send it as a 7zip file or a tar.gz, but unless
you know the person, or people, you're sending files to has the given
program, the rename workaround is probably easier.

i normally use changing the extension of zip to zip+... which makes it
obvious of the original extension and can be easily figured out... in
fact i have associated zip+ extension with winzip on on my computer
and i dont have to do anything but simply open it up...

or else rar is also a nice suggestion...

regards,
Ashish.
