Is it possible to have two different names on the one gmail address.
So, for example, I can send emails as "Sally Green
<chic...@gmail.com>" or "Newsletter <chic...@gmail.com>" of "The
Latest News <chic...@gmail.com>" and then easily select from any of
these when composing and sending an email?

Thanks

You can set up multiple from addresses, but these are typically
different e-mail accounts. I would try to add a new from address, and
just use your g-mail account for that. If it works, you'll have what
you want. Otherwise, I don't think it's possible.

Hi Zack

Not at all sure what you mean by "I would try to add a new from

address, and just use your g-mail account for that. "

And when adding the new address (second link), put your g-mail address.

Zack I read all this but not sure if I understand......the help says
"You can customize the 'From:' field of any Gmail message you send so
it appears to be from another one of your email addresses" I want to
use the one email address but use more than one name. Let me be very
general here. Sometimes I want to send a message as "name-1
<myemail...@gmail.com>" and other times as "name-2
<myemail...@gmail.com>" but in all cases the actual email addres is
the same i.e. "myemail...@gmail.com". Gosh it's hard to explain.

Thanks for replying to all my posts Zack

I understood your request, and that was the only way I could think of
that MIGHT work (I tried, it doesn't). It's meant for when you have
different addresses you want to send from (like mine above), but I
thought it might work with your GMail address again so you could have
a different "nickname", but it won't let you.

So the end result is that there is no way (with the default gmail and
web interface) to do what you'd like to. You could suggest it to
gmail <https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_suggest/> so perhaps
it will become a feature.

NP, it's interesting to help.

Sorry Zack, I thought perhaps that I didn't explain myself to clearly
but seems from your trying, and thank you for that, that it can't be
done. Have now suggested it to Google. If I had half the obvious
knowledge and skill that guys like you had Zack then I'd love to help
as in it's own way I reckon it's a great way to learn

Thanks again for all your help.

Here is a thought, what you could do is open 3 different email
accounts, make one of them name one and second name two etc etc, in
the one you want to always check or the one you use most often go to
settings, accounts and add the other two email accounts. Now what
should happen (I hope) is you can check the other accounts from the
main account and send and recieve emails from the others. When replying
back to the other 2 accounts you have the option to make it look like
you sent it from the one you are using now or from one of the other
two.

I hope I made that make sense and I also hope that gave you a solution.
