This is something that drive me crazy. Is there a way I can remove
the following from a Gmail reply?

On DATE at TIME, Craig Lambert <EMAIL ADDRESS> wrote:

I manually delete it EVERY time when replying to an email. I
regularly use the Quote Selected Text labs feature but this line
persistently drives me batty.

I wasn't sure if there is something out there that takes care of this.

Any help would GREATLY be appreciated.

Thanks,
Craig

At this time, there is no lab or addin that I know of to do that automatically.  You can only do it manually, like you already are.

BTW, why do you want to?  It's considered good netiquette to have it there.

I disagree. The date and time are already in the mail headers. I
don't just reply to the whole message either. I do line by line
replies instead of replying to the whole email and delete anything
else that I'm not commenting on. You know, filtering out the crap and
keeping the email on target.

Everyone does things a little different I suppose. I just like my
emails clean. I'. a little OCD like that.

Thanks anyway,
Craig

I disagree (not with all of it, just the header comment). The header
of THIS message (my reply) should have no date information as to when
YOU wrote ME (the message to which I'm replying, which is what the "On
BLAH" line is referring to). To my point, I just checked the headers
of your message and there is no information about the date/time of the
message to which you were replying. That line doesn't tell you much
about THIS message (the headers do), they tell you about the message
I'm referencing. In the absence of a good threading e-mail readers,
this can be invaluable if I need to read the REST of the message to
which you were replying. ESPECIALLY since you cut out part and only
left the part to which you replied, WHICH can be easily changed so
that it looks like you said something which you didn't.

Speaking of filtering... This is a public list, so while your language
wasn't too strong this time, please be mindful of little minds.

I'm moving on. Nothing to see here and I'm afraid the bubble might
burst.
