Is it possible to search for multiple lables (or drill down multiple
label levels)? For example, i have some mail with two labels ("cool" &
"important"). How can I find all mail having both of those labels?
Some of my mail will have only one of those labels. (I'm hoping to do
this in Picasa as well)

Thanks,
DB

I often want to see only unread messages in my Inbox.

I type
label:Unread label:inbox
into the search field and click the Search Mail button.

Works as requested, cool!

I did not realize that characteristics such as "read" or "inbox" were
handled just like labels as well. Very interesting.

Thanks!

type this into your search bar:

label:cool label:important [followed by whatever keyword you want to search by]

that will tell gmail to search in both cool and important labels using
your specified search word(s)

You can do that, but you can't assign more than one label at a time in
a filter, which is really a bummer.
