Can someone please explain why opposite my user name a green icon appears whenever my email address is used. This takes the form of a green filled in rectangle with a green solid arrow to the right. It was particularly noticeable recently when my address was included in a list of some 60 names consisting of assorted email addresses(not gmail). What is its significance and how do I remove this?Caniscorpus

Hi Ian
This little icon represents a camera and being green means that you
are available for voice/video chat. At some point you installed the
plugin at http://google.com/talk/
One can only remove this by signing out of chat. See also the 'Chat'
section in Gmail settings.
Regards
