Gmail desktop shortcut or taskbar

Just signed up for Gmail....so far so good....BUT, can a desktop
shortcut or item on the taskbar be created to provide quick access to
Gmail. Right now it seems I have to put in favorites on my MSN
account. Thanks

If you are using Windows, you can just right-click on the desktop and select New > Shortcut, and the path would be http://mail.google.com.

It's simple enough to just put your mouse pointer on the favicon next to the Gmail address in your browser's address bar and drag it to the desktop (or wherever) ... clicking the icon you've just created should then open up Gmail in your system's default browser.
