mailto:dsw3...@gmail.com?subject=test  will open a new message window with my email address in the TO: and test in the SUBJECT.

 

I did this using Insert>Hyperlink>mailto: in Outlook Express.

link will open in gmail...

The Gmail Notifier has an option to make mailto: links use Gmail but it
doesn't work for me. Do I have to set that option as Administrator?
