Linux POP3/IMAP/SMTP command line clients for GMail

Does anyone have a recommendation on command line POP3/IMAP/SMTP
clients that can be used with GMail? The command line clients I'm
familiar with do not support SSL and I need command line clients for
automated/machine based processing of some emails that I get.

Install stunnel, and use it to create a secure tunnel for your
clients. I use it all the time to test the servers from the shell.
