Hi everybody,

I am a Chinese and a computer scientist currently working in China.
Recently I am happy to find the Chinese language version of Gmail logon
interface. However, I have to say, its translation from English to
Chinese is bad. Many words seem too formal or awkward. As the English
version of Gmail adopts a live style of language, why the Chinese looks
so rigid or stubborn? For example, the short sentence " It's good to
chat" is translated as "聊天还是挺好的". But why not
"聊天挺好" ? It's much more concise and vivid.

I would like to compose an email to Gmail group and point out the
points above. I am native Chinese and have a good grasp of Chinese and
I believe I can make good translations, without the loss of google's
style.

You might want to contact Google and volunteer to be a translator.
Here's the language page that might point you in the right direction.

Also try through here: <https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_translate>
