When typing an email, the cursor often jumps to the very end of the
text box (which seems to go along with auto-saving drafts) -- what can
I do?

Safari Version: 3.0.4 (523.12.2)
MacOS: 10.4.11

Does this happen in another browser like Firefox? If so, you've got a
weird problem. If not, I've seen this reported on another forum with
Safari saying Firefox works, so it's a Safari issue with GMail. Make
sure you report it to Google if you want it fixed.

are you on a laptop?
if you are this can be caused by accidentally hitting or brushing the
mouse pad with the heel of your hand...I had to go over to using a
mouse and clicking off the mouse pad on the laptop and the problem
magically went away...~smile~

I think it's one of the last implemented functionality in Safari to
improve accessibility.
Safari behaviour is very "strange" and different from other browsers'
in matters of "textarea" and forms... :)

Happening with my Safari as well, same constellation of OSX-Safari
versions. Current solution is to use a different browser or a
different email -- this thing is really hard to with.
