I had one Gmail invite left that I was saving for a friend. As it turns
out, by the time my friend got back to me the Gmail invite was no
longer available! So here's a word to the wise: use 'em or lose 'em!

I thought that happened to me, but what had happened was they moved
the location of the link. Check down at the bottom of your label
list... if you have a lot of labels you might have missed it.

How long does it take before it expires? I mean, there are two
possibilities as discussed on other forums.

1) The invite was never issued ... This from what I've read does not
expire. Its just moved somewhere down and since I don't have any, I
could not say.

2) The invite was made, but was not used. This could specially happen
if it was issued to oneself. and then kept back for using at the most
opportune time! Well, this I heard does expire and I've read this
normally happens in about 2 to 3 weeks from issue.

Any experiences???

Cheers

On a side note... Eddie, Can you tell me what font is used on your site
to write "Recent Posts" ... the script one, and from where I can get it
myself. If a link is not availabel, maybe you could mail it to me
please...

Hi!

Google states in the help the following (see
http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=7403&topic=-1):

To invite someone, click on the 'Invite a friend to join Gmail!' link
in your inbox. You will then be asked to provide an email address and
a personalized message to your invitee.

The person you invite will be sent a message that includes a link to
join Gmail. That registration link will be valid for three weeks and
can be used to create only one account.

Should your invitee have problems creating a Gmail account, please let
us know by clicking on the 'contact us' link in the grey box below.

I believe Gmail invitations expire within 3 weeks.
I've had no experiences of this happening but I've heard other
complaints from people that have left it too late and their invites
have expired.
Use them quickly or they'll expire.

I Have ONE invite left ... I have been keeping it basically as a test
and in the event that I need another account or a friend does etc...
and it is still there. I sent one to my son and he didn't use it ...
I thought I could use the invite link for someone else... but after
about 2 weeks the invite link directed me to a page telling me the
link had expired and so was lost.

Unsent invites seem to last forever ... at least for now. ;)

Once they are sent out you have 30240 minutes (21 days, down to the
minute) to use them before the link goes dead. I really have no idea
why they would want to do that...I guess it's like using a coupon.
You don't want someone using a coupon 3 years after its issued, you
don't want to be held accountable for that sorta stuff. =p

Maybe ... haven't yet and if I do ... the invite isn't going anywhere
anyhow so it is a waste of their time. ;)

I just saw my brother's gmail account a while ago and his invites are
still with him. It's now under the labels and the font is now colored
BLUE.

As for the invites that were already sent but was never used, i would
just confirm that mine also expired.

Still there .. just moved below the labels section ... I agree that
they did move it about the same time as the New Features link appeared
.... maybe to make it less prominent considering that most invites are
extinct now. ;)
