Hello,

a friend of mine want to send me a 200 MB folder ( a movie ), so i
have space enough and more for keeping it but i think that i can't
receive more than 10MB as usual and he, even if i send him an invite
for gmail, even from gmail can't send me more than 10 MB. Is it true?
Do you know if there are mail, also not free, where i have unlimited
space to send things?

thanks to everyone,
Maddy

Most e-mail clients (Like Outlook express) allow you to split messages apart when you send them.  If you're using OE, go to Tools->Accounts->Mail, click your default account, click properties, click advanced, check the box labled "Break apart messages larger than" and in the text box below it, enter 1000.  Have your friend do that and send you the message, and as long as you're using OE or something similar it'll send the whole thing.

Heya maddy....

Try Streamload.com....its an online storage depot.

Its only 5 bux for a month...and the storage is massive...

Your friend can ship the file there...

You can send files through yahoo and MSN Messengers...but depending on
your connection speed...200 meg is a big file to transfer.

Streamload may be your best bet.

200 MB is a large file to send via e-mail. If you have a web site, and
it offers anonymous FTP, you could just upload the file there and let
your friend download.

There is an RFC that gives the specifications for sending a file in
partial segments. Gmail does not offer that service. MS Outlook does
however, as well as Becky Internet Mail.

I believe that WinZIP use to offer the option of breaking a file into
smaller bits and ZIPPing them up. If it is still available, you could
use it to break your file into twenty segments and send them to your
friend. He would then reverse the process.

Finally, considering that postage is so very cheap, much cheaper than
buying a dedicated piece of software to accomplish what you want, just
burn the file to a CD and send it to him/her via snail mail.

By the way, many ISPs will block the transmission of a file as large as
you are describing. It overloads their servers. Many limit to 25Mb or
less. Check with your ISP for further details.

You might want to use http://YouSendIt.com which will do just what you
think you might want to do.

Gmail to outside or outside to Gmail allows for 10 MB encoded, which
is about 7 MB filesize before encoding.

Gmail to Gmail allows 20 MB encoded, or about 14 MB filesize before encoding.

You could burn it to a CD-R and then copy it. You could even just run
it from the CD-R.
