Attempting to upload contact picture crashes Gmail

Has anyone has the problem of attempting to upload a picture to a
contact profile and, after the upload is received and the cropping
frame positioned, when you click on Save, it kicks you right out of
Gmail, back to a Google search screen?

Then, when I log back into gmail and check the contact in question, the
picture has not been uploaded.

It doesn't seem to matter what size the image file is (I use jpg
files). I've reduced it to 54 x 54 (only 6K!), and the problem still
occurs. It occurs on two different computers, one using XP SP2 and the
other Win2K (with all the updates). I've attempted this with 5-6 files
for 5-6 contacts. Same outcome.

I'm using Firefox 1.0.5.6, which works fine otherwise. (Please, be
gentle if you're going to suggest that I try the upload with IE. If I
can't use Firefox exclusively for gmail, I really don't want to go on
living.)

Robt,
Just this weekend I started uploading pictures for contact information
and didn't experience the problem you described.

I'm running a similar XP platform with FF (I assume you meant FF
1.5.0.6) . I wonder if it is the particular gmail server that your
account is on...
