When you tick the "Remeber Me" box, google servers write what's called
a "Cookie" which is basically a name-value piece of data e.g.
username=john. This data is stored on your local machine and when you
log onto google again, it is retrieved by google. If your browser is
set to erase cookies, then google cannot retrive this cookie and you
must enter your login details each time you attempt to log in.
