I previously had Gmail set up so I could send email via another account (cjpphotos.com.)  I changed my password yesterday and went in to put the new password into:
Send emails through your SMTP server  window

When I click Add Account, I receive this message:
Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
[Server response: DNS Error: Address resolution of smtp.cjpphotos.com. failed: Domain name not found code(0) ]

Why did this work BEFORE I changed the password and NOW when I enter the NEW password I get this message?

I have had that problem too, more than once.  If I remember right, I kept trying until it worked.  Or maybe I deleted the old entry and created a new one.

That is coincidental.

If you read the error i.e. '
DNS Error: Address resolution of smtp.cjpphotos.com. failed' and then take a few seconds to do a simple check that smtp.cjpphotos.com actually resolves, you will find that it does not.

I'm having the same problem. Setting up alias accounts with GoDaddy domain email addresses like always, but I get:
Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
[Server response: 535 Authentication Failed for (email address) code(535) ]

I verified correct info by logging into GD webmail (also, I've set up 4 email addresses in the last 2 weeks with same server info). I called GoDaddy and they said just keep trying and it might work. Sounds pretty sketch to me, hah don't know who's fault it is or how to fix :/

Soooo I guess, just keep randomely trying with fingers crossed...

I just solved this, by selecting "unsecured connection" and port 25, instead of TSL or SSL. Then, after verified, I went to account settings and "edit info" for that address, and was able to change to TSL from there.
