I have notice that for the past month or so (at least) that "Reply from the same address the message was sent to" is not working.  My replies always default to my default email address (which is not gmail).  Has anyone else had this problem?  It used to work but not now.

Still working fine for me.
Have you checked in your Gmail Settings (Accounts and Import)
that the setting hasn't reset itself back to use default "somehow"?

All settings have been checked.  It's just really annoying when I reply to a group and my reply bounces.

I have the same problem. It's really annoying.
I receive all the replies to my gmail account, but the default reply-from address is my default one for new e-mail.
What happens is, that when I reply to a group, and don't change my reply-from address, there is now two different participants in the post, which are both me! :(

Please fix it... :)

Google has some exceptions where sending yourself an email can wind up in something other than your inbox. I'm not an expert but I figured out how to get around this. I created a filter where if the email is from me and to me then the message gets starred and it never goes to spam. Here is the setting, minus my address ..

Matches: from:(XXX) to:(XXX)
Do this: Star it, Apply label "[imap]/inbox", Never send it to Spam

I agree this behavior needs to be re-thought as now we use multiple devices to send/receive emails and this default behavior messes up my system.
